Why does it deserve our distinction? Because it is a foie gras with a long and successful history.  Since 1920 when Pierre Lafitte founded the company, this product has been recognized as one of the best.  Only black and white Mulard ducks are raised here and they enjoy a long time in the open air.  They are fed only vegetable products like corn and wheat.  Fattening is done in special pens that are more comfortable for the animal and which are only used in 6% of the French production of foie gras.  The foie is prepared by hand and always done by the cooks at Lafitte.  No additives or preservatives are added during this production.  A rustic taste with an exquisite, refined texture. 
How should you eat or cook it? By itself, with a baguette or with slices of lightly toasted country bread. Take it our of the refrigerator an hour before serving to be able to truly appreciate its aroma.
What wine should you drink with it? A sweet white wine like Sauternes Gran Chateau Rieussec.
